Stress of election continues despite the fact that election is over. Why? Because news media keeps churning up division, excitement, anger and fear. Hence, everyone seems to be suffering from the stress of election.
“Stressful State” versus “Peaceful State.”
I use the term stress in a broad sense. To me “Stressful State” is opposite to “Peaceful State.”
“Peaceful State” is default setting that we all humans are born with. However, it gets replaced by a “Stressful State”, as we grow up in society and get in the grip of the Acquired Self, which divides us into groups along the lines of political, religious, cultural and other concepts. That is how we get into the game of “US Against Them”, which politicians thrive on. In this way, we become fearful of each other. As a group, we want to subdue the group against us. Consequently, we get into intellectual – and at times physical – battles. Presidential election is one such battle.
No One Has Inner Peace
When humans are divided and afraid of each other, no one is a winner, and everyone is a loser as far as “inner peace” is concerned. Winners get into the state of excitement (and underlying fear and anger) and losers get into a state of fear, anger and sadness. All these emotions wreak havoc on their physical as well as spiritual health.
Harmful Effects Of Stress Of Election
Medically speaking, excitement, fear and anger trigger high levels of adrenaline. High Adrenaline State (HAS) raises your blood pressure and may trigger a heart attack, rapid heartbeat, or stroke. It also wreaks havoc on your immune system. In addition, it raises your blood sugar.
Sadness increases your cortisol level, which adversely affects your blood pressure, blood sugar and immune system.
Spiritually speaking, fear, anger and sadness stain your soul. Then, your soul feels heaviness and gets distanced from the peace of the Divine.
Practical Tips To Deal With Stress Of Election
While politicians would love to keep you in the game of “Us Against Them”, you need to get wiser and free yourself of the stress of election. Here are some practical guidelines:
- Realize that you performed your civic duty by casting your vote on the election day. Now, don’t be attached to the results, whether your candidate won or lost in the election.
- Stay away from news, political podcasts, newspaper articles, magazine articles etc.
- Use your five senses: what you see, hear, smell, taste and touch. This is how you stay in the Now.
- Pay attention to Space, Silence, Stillness: the formless canvas for the painting of the universe.
- Take attention into your chest with each inhalation. Soon, you will rediscover inner peace and love in your chest. It is like a glow, which is the source of all-encompassing unconditional love of the Divine.
- Do PC (PuboCoccygeal) muscle exercises a few times a day. (you can learn these exercises by watching YouTube videos). This will help open your base chakra and get rid of fear. In addition, these exercises prevent as well as treat urinary incontinence in women and help men to last longer in bed.
- Take Stress Buster & Focus Support, a formula I created a long time ago. It contains herbs that have been shown clinically to prevent as well as help treat anxiety and depression. In addition, it contains herbs that have been found to improve cognition and focus. In this way, these herbs may help to prevent Alzheimer’s dementia.
In Summary
Stress of election is harmful to the health of your body and soul. The sooner you are free of it, the better of you are going to be.
